UpFix can repair your factory original Mustang instrument cluster to help you retain originality while restoring function. There is simply no reason to live with faulty gauges and dim or dark lighting. UpFix can resolve pretty much any fault or issue -- except for fire and flood damage.
What Goes Wrong
Known issues include dim or dark background illumination, faulty gauges (Fuel, Oil, Speedometer, Tachometer, Temp Gauge, etc.), intermittent or total power loss, LED indicator lights, LED issues, odometer issues, pixelated, dim, or dark digital LCD display screen. The issues may vary based on your generation of Mustang from 1994 and up. We service 4th, 5th, and 6th gen instrument clusters including both early and late-style 5th-generation clusters.
Installed in Mustangs from 1994-2004, 4th-generation instrument clusters may seem old. Much of the technology is identical to later model Mustangs including stepper motor-driven gauges, and LCD displays. The biggest difference is the analog odometer.
The Odometer Issue
One of the most important reasons to repair your existing instrument cluster is to retain the original odometer reading. Even if your digital odometer screen is dark, the mileage data may still be stored in the unit and will be displayed when the LCD is serviced. This saves you from the added cost of mileage correction which can also lead to title and carfax issues. If your instrument cluster is in need of mileage correction, that service is available. Be prepared to complete the necessary documents. Mileage correction is typically required when a replacement cluster is needed -- such as after a fire or flood damage. If the circuit board has burned or saltwater corrosion is present, the instrument cluster is likely to be unrepairable. Under these circumstances, a replacement unit with mileage correction is required.
Since they are collectible cars, we really enjoy servicing Mustang instrument clusters. We feel like we are helping you preserve history.
Here's a special Roush Mustang Instrument Cluster for a late 5th gen car 2010-2014. It may look different than the standard Mustang ICP, but the function is identical.
